Power outage for all of Bowen Island on Sep 14

We have received notice from BC Hydro that they have scheduled a power outage for all of Bowen Island on Thursday, September 14, 2017 between 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. This is necessary to continue the work they have been doing all summer to replace the sub-marine cable. Ultimately this work will improve the reliability of Hydro service on the island. BC Hydro has notified their customers by telephone and/or e-mail message, and will deliver notices to all Bowen Island mail boxes.

Council expresses support for housing initiative

August 3, 2017

In the 2017 Island Plan, Council committed to support diverse housing initiatives, with the goal of making Bowen Island a welcoming, long-term home for people of varying income levels, lifestyles and age groups. One of the initiatives currently underway is a proposed building that would contain a health care facility and rental housing at 980 Dorman Road. The proposal would require rezoning the property via bylaw.

Mannion Bay regulations in effect as of October 1, 2017

Bowen Island Municipality has obtained a Licence of Occupation for Mannion Bay, which means that we are moving forward with the plan to restore environmental and community well-being to the area.

Together with the Use of Beaches and Water Areas Bylaw, we will be carrying out enforcement in two phases.
