STARTING OCTOBER 1, 2011:
BC Small Appliance Recycling Program:
Keep your old, broken appliances out of the landfill and recycle them.  The Canadian Electrical Stewardship Association (CESA) – a not-for-profit agency comprised of manufacturers, distributors and retailers of these products -- was formed to manage a program to recycle small appliances in British Columbia.

Beginning on October 1, 2011, consumers will be able to drop off small appliances for recycling at collection points across the province (on Bowen Island: at the Bowen Island Recycling Depot {B.I.R.D.} on Mt. Gardner Road, across from the gas station).

A wide range of small appliances will be included in the program according to the following categories:
• air treatment
• countertop
• floor care
• personal care
• garment care
• weight measurement; and
• time measurement

A full list of products in each of these categories is available on the CESA products page at:  http://www.cesarecycling.ca/consumer-products
