As noted in the May 24, 2010 posting on this website entitled "Notice: re: Bear on Bowen Island", municipal staff liaised between the Conservation Office and members of the public regarding bear sightings since the first report on Monday, May 17th.
The Conservation Services Office (Ministry of the Environment) has requested that anyone wishing to report bear sightings on Bowen Island should contact them directly, instead of calling the local RCMP detachment or Bowen Island Municipality -- neither the RCMP or BIM have jurisdiction over wildlife issues.
The Conservation Office's Call Centre number is 1-877-952-7277. They can also be contacted via email at Conservation.Officer.Service@gov.bc.ca.
