Seeking public input on Hazard Risk Assessment

Bowen Island Municipality is updating the 2007 Hazard Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (HRVA), and is seeking input from the public and subject matter experts.

The purpose of Hazard, Risk and Vulnerability Analysis (HRVA) is to help community leaders make risk-based choices to address vulnerabilities, mitigate hazards and prepare for response and recovery from emergencies. A completed Hazard Risk and Vulnerability Analysis (HRVA) provides a comparison of any risks that may exist within a community. A ‘risk’ is a combination of a hazard or threat impact and the likelihood of its occurrence. The HRVA report is the foundation document for any community emergency program.

Please contact Jennifer McGowan, Emergency Program Coordinator if you wish to contribute to the HRVA update.
