The Administration Department is the initial contact for members of the community wishing to access the administration and government on a wide variety of issues.
The CAO is appointed by and reports to Bowen Island Municipal Council to oversee the administration of the Municipality, its officers and employees. In addition, the CAO is responsible for implementing and keeping Council up to date on policies and directives. The CAO also provides leadership and direction for the senior management teams and sets the overall strategic direction for short and long term administrative goals.
The Deputy Corporate Officer (Municipal Clerk) is responsible for providing administrative support to Council, the execution of all legal documents on behalf of the Municipality and acts as the Freedom of Information Officer for the Municipality, processing requests for the release of information under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (To find out more on Freedom of information, please click here). The Deputy Corporate Officer is also responsible for the coordination of Council and Committee of the Whole meetings, including the preparation of agendas and the recording of official meeting minutes, reviewing staff reports, preparing bylaws and policies and actions from meetings. As well, the department administers and ensures certification on Municipal bylaws. It manages and preserves all the Municipality’s records, prepares correspondence, and submits and annual administrative budget. Additionally, the department is responsible for the development of the Municipal website.
