Fire danger

High: Forest fuels are very dry and the fire risk is serious. New fires may start easily, burn vigorously, and challenge fire suppression efforts. Extreme caution must be used in any forest activities. Open burning and industrial activities are restricted.

A fire ban is in effect as of Thursday, July 6. Open fires on public and private property are prohibited.

Road conditions

MILLER ROAD SEWER LINE

Contractors will be installing a Sanitary Sewer main, a Sanitary force main and a Sanitary Pump Station along Seniors Lane and Miller Road.

Road work on Miller Road began July 13. Work to continue 21 weeks. Please expect the following while construction is underway:

  • northbound lane closed, southbound lane alternating direction
  • flaggers will direct traffic
  • allow more time to get to the ferry
  • C11 bus schedule may be affected

Work will take place Monday - Friday between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.

Water conservation stages

Water conservation guidelines are currently at Stage 1, which allows for watering of flower and vegetable gardens and power washing. Car and boat washing and lawn watering is restricted. Read more

Beach closures and advisories

 

Sandy Beach and Snug Cove Beach remain closed due to unsafe levels of bacteria in tested water. Signs are posted on the beach.

Trail closures and advisories

SEPTEMBER MORN BEACH AND TRAIL

BC Hydro crews will be back later this summer to complete work on the new submarine cable installation project. In the meantime, the trail has reopened and we can get back to the beach!
